Manage the Unknown – Risks and Security in Times of Radical ChangeA look back at the ISACA|IIAS Conference 2026

A 360° view of modern and effective risk management. Driven by senior management and practised throughout the company.

Only when risk management is not seen as a separate discipline, but is practised throughout the company and supported by managers, does it strengthen resilience, according to the message in Thomas Michel's keynote speech.

Ralf Winzer highlighted the cyber warfare scenarios we face on a daily basis. Global powers are also fighting for supremacy in this arena. These global powers also focus on vulnerable critical infrastructures that can be used to carry cyber warfare into the physical world. However, critical infrastructures do not have to be weak, and the EU's NIS2 helps to ensure this, reported Swantje Westpfahl. We in Switzerland cannot escape this, she emphasised, describing the ISG as nothing more than the little sister of NIS2.

Mirjam Gruber-Durrer elaborated on the keynote address with the support of senior executives, explaining that effective risk management is the responsibility of the board of directors. Manuel Pachlatko showed how cyber insurance can be used as a tailor-made risk management measure to help mitigate both external and internal damage.

Often discussed in risk management and concluding our stage programme: «The Black Swan».

Moving away from risk management, information security and auditing, Isabell Welpe shared her research on leadership mistakes, leadership challenges and leadership innovations with and without AI.

Sandra Würmli (IIAS) and Gerhard Burtscher (ISACA) guided us through the day and the concluding panel discussion. They concluded by announcing the next ISACA | IIAS Conference on 28 January 2027.
